[opensuse-factory] IPv6 non-functional on Factory default install
Hi all, A small heads up, in case somebody has some spare time to fix it (and knowledge) :) On current Factory installations, IPv6 is not working properly. As one week ago we had IPv6 day (again) and a good bunch of larger services decided to now also leave the AAAA records published (google, facebook), it became apparent: Even though my Factory machine does have a public IP6 address assigned, there is NO traffic happening on it. Some drill down showed that unscd seems to be blamed for that. Stopping that service enables V6 communication. Or course, I did not do more testing than that, and filed it as a bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=767125 Would be a shame if we end up shipping 12.2 with broken V6 support :) Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, I saw these will doing some testing, workaround install "nscd" (the glibc version) apparently unscd is broken on IPv6. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I had opened a report on an IPv6 problem that existed in 11.3 and 12.1, where IPv6 is shut down on an interface if IPv4 is configured for DHCP, using the ifup method. Does this still happen in 12.2? If so, it presents a problem for anyone who gets a DHCP IPv4 address from their ISP. My ISP is offering IPv6 now, though only through tunnels. But when they get full IPv6 support, this issue will prevent me from using it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
