Well... Typically, you do it in YaST, but the change applies to all users, I think. You can simply: # export LANG=en_US.UTF-8 then that xterm will be in English from then on. You can change more variables; I have a script to call programs in English: cer@nimrodel:~> cat /usr/local/bin/ingles #!/bin/sh LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 DICTIONARY=english KDE_LANG=en_US.UTF-8 $* or in Spanish: cer@nimrodel:~> cat /usr/local/bin/espaniol #!/bin/sh LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_ALL=es_ES.UTF-8 DICTIONARY=espanol KDE_LANG=es_ES $* You can also have a look at the output of "locale". The default for root is: nimrodel:~ # locale LANG=POSIX LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC="POSIX" LC_TIME="POSIX" LC_COLLATE="POSIX" LC_MONETARY="POSIX" LC_MESSAGES="POSIX" LC_PAPER="POSIX" LC_NAME="POSIX" LC_ADDRESS="POSIX" LC_TELEPHONE="POSIX" LC_MEASUREMENT="POSIX" LC_IDENTIFICATION="POSIX" LC_ALL= To change any user, even root's, you change its locale. I'm not sure of the locale command syntax. I think there is a setting in YaST for root's only, somewhere. I thought the default was always "posix". - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I will look into it as soon as i have some spare time: The newly build has some very unpleasant, unpractical bugs. 1) Selections randomly get saved (or not) to klipper. 2) Try to use the mouse in TB, to cut text is impossible, as there is a very strange thing happening with the menu, so it is impossible to select the menu item you want. 3) Desktop- and taskbar items changed into binary'pieces of paper'..;) Only first sight thingies... -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (M9.) Well, I mirror from stage.opensuse.org, and the last x86 factory update seems to be from 27th January. A huge upgrade for PPC arrived today.

Peter, I called publish_factory. I hope I didn't broke something.
Unfortunately, that script was not meant to be used. As you noticed later :( So, as you know by now, mirrors mirroring from stage.opensuse.org were not being updated for ~10 days. People using download.opensuse.org didn't notice of course. The issue was that the internal sync from the build service to our download (and stage) server didn't go to the place where I expected it to go. I thought it went into the stage area from where it would feed the mirrors that sync from there. Instead, it went to the download area. (And that way, the publish script would have worked...)
