[opensuse-factory] Can we see plymouth integrated with systemd in openSUSE 12.1?
Hello List Mates, Are we going to see the integration of plymouth with systemd in 12.1? If so, are we going to have time for testing? Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

One of the key people working on systemd made reference to it. Not to mention it's still one of the top feature requests. And, openSUSE's "Splashy" is seriously lacking in performance. Major flickering. Including a progress bar that shows the boot sequence finishing. Then it resets back and starts again?? Today's OS should have had this fixed by now. Although closed-source, OSX and Windows had this resolved many years ago. Go figure... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

And, openSUSE's "Splashy" is seriously lacking in performance. splashy is used only for suspend/resume, not for booting. And the bootsplash is finishing booting and then the KDE splash starts, which has exactly the same branding.

I meant bootsplash but it came out splashy ;-) Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Some people worked on it last year but I don't think they had time to finish the work and it was not merged in Factory. Right now, I'd prefer to have a rock solid integration of systemd in Factory and postpone plymouth to 12.2. Unless somebody steps up and take care of plymouth NOW. -- Frederic Crozat <fcrozat@suse.com> SUSE -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I agree. Since so much depends on systemd plymouth can always wait for another release. I understand the Redhat people are also helping out. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
