Hello, I recently installed a fresh copy of Tumbleweed and tried to compile a TeX document that contains a bibliography, for which I need to use the `texlive-biber` package. Apparently, after some investigation I found out that the new version of this package now requires the `perl-File-Slurper` package to function properly - even trying to determine the package version from the command line fails because the package can't be found. How can I inform the package maintainer that the new dependency needs to be added? Regards, Chris

Hi paka, Thanks for the reply. I know that it's available in OSS. My suggestion was that it should be a package dependency of texlive-biber - that way it gets pulled in automatically when installing texlive-biber. I'm not sure who to contact to get that done. Hmmm ... AFAICR the package texlive-biber requires texlive-biber-bin and the last one requires perl(Biber) which is package perl-biber with the following dependencies: perl(Sort::Key) perl(Text::Roman) perl(Unicode::Collate) perl(Data::Uniqid) perl(DateTime) perl(DateTime::Calendar::Julian) perl(Text::BibTeX) perl(LWP::Protocol::https) perl(LWP::Simple) perl(Log::Log4perl) perl(Unicode::GCString) perl(Business::ISMN) perl(Business::ISSN) perl(Class::Accessor) perl(Data::Compare) perl(Data::Dump) perl(Date::Simple) perl(DateTime::Format::Builder) perl(Encode::EUCJPASCII) perl(Encode::HanExtra) perl(Encode::JIS2K) perl(IPC::Cmd) perl(IPC::Run3) perl(List::AllUtils) perl(List::MoreUtils) perl(Regexp::Common) perl(Text::CSV) perl(XML::LibXML::Simple) perl(XML::LibXSLT) perl(autovivification) perl(Business::ISBN) perl(DateTime::TimeZone) perl(File::Slurp) perl(URI) perl(XML::Writer) I'll add perl(File::Slurp::Unicode) perl(File::Slurper) -- "Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool." -- Edward Burr

Thanks Dr. Werner Fink,
Let me know if I should also open a bug report

In general, you can go to software.o.o and search for the package you're having problems with. There click on the `official release` link that brings you to the build.o.o project for the package. Over there you can find a `Developed at ...` link where changes are first introduced. On the development project's page is a `Report Bug` link below the description that will bring you to bugzilla.o.o with some appropriate presets. In your case it is texlive-biber-bin [1] to openSUSE:Factory > texlive [2] to Publishing:TeXLive > texlive [3] and finally the link for the bug report [4].
