Hello. Today I ran a zypper dup as usual in my laptop running Tumbleweed with Plasma desktop, and when the process finished I reboot the system. After reboot, I can't no longer run firefox. It crashes at startup. If I ran firefox from a console and I get this message: ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 3400 ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal... You can inxi info here: https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/416b637cd3d8 How can fix this issue? Someone else has running the same issue? I wonder - do you have a gen 11 or newer Intel CPU and running Tumbleweed 6.3.6. If so try booting with ibt=no on the kernel - Firefox may be broken when ibt is enabled. It works fine on gen 10 and older cpus. On Wed, Jun 14, 2023 at 4:53 PM victorhck via openSUSE Factory < factory@lists.opensuse.org> wrote:

Seems that there's a bug open at bugzilla.o.o https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1212101 Reported the issue there. -- ------------------- GPG Key: 0xcc742e8dc9b7e22a Fingerprint = 6FE2 3B1F AAC8 E5B7 63EA 88A9 CC74 2E8D C9B7 E22A Aprende a proteger la privacidad de tu correo: https://emailselfdefense.fsf.org/es/ Mi blog sobre openSUSE, GNU/Linux y software libre: https://victorhckinthefreeworld.com/ Herramientas para proteger tu privacidad https://victorhck.gitlab.io/privacytools-es/

I can confirm this for a vivobook. The strange thing is that the same does not apply to my desktop PC although I did literally copy the .mozilla days ago to the laptop. Same thing: both TW, on the PC no issue, on the Vivobook it crashes. When running on CLI it gives: kf.118n: KlocalizedString: Using an empty domain, fix the code, msid: "Mozilla Firefox" msgid_plural: "" msgctxt: "" then the ExemptionHandler Generates a cloned child. This on an intel machine, an using wayland. Now on the PC I am using X. So I tried in both. Actually there is an issue also in X. The crash window in Firefox does complain apparently about "mesagl". This could be the issue, because my notebooks graphics are intel, the PC is AMD. I this this is a bug and should be raised in bugzilla.

Hi everyone New here, first post and first mayor inconvenient with Opensuse after a zypper dup. Had the same problem on three different systems: Ryzen 7 5700, Intel J4105 and Intel J4205, so I can assume that is not hardware dependent. Performed a rollback and Firefox still broke, also broke Kate. Executed zypper dup again and kate is fixed, firefox still broke. Opened "yast-software management" search for "firefox" uncheck every instance and click "Acept". I don't think a reboot is necessary at this point but I did just in case. Open "Discover" search for firefox and installed from there. Any mods, extensions, logins etc. have to be reapplied. Hope this helps.

Did you try running zypper dup today?? This is sort of last weeks news, there is another thread where details are discussed here, or on the bugzilla bug report. Last Friday zypper "broke" Firefox, today it fixed it. It booted in safe mode so all extensions were removed, when I relaunched it the themes were back. If you need more help you could try posting on the forum and get the details over there ???
