[opensuse-factory] we have a beta3 - but why the different content types in the directories?

We wanted to try something new :) Seriously: we want to automate the distribution building more than it is usually. And so we decided to go for a more stream line directory structure. When I go to http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta3/iso/ it shows the B2-B3 x86 delta as being 488M, but the actual downloaded file is much smaller. We exchanged that file late in the process, because it was broken. There seems to be a mirror, which didn't get the new file yet. Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech. openSUSE-11.1-Beta2_Beta3-DVD-i386.delta.iso is reported as 488M, but the size of the downloaded file is 220M in some mirrors. The md5sum of the smaller file does not match the md5sum as published in the web site. The file in ftp5.gwdg.de seems to have the right size and it matches the checksum. -- Rafael E. I don't think too many mirrors download their files directly to a publicly accessible directory while they are readable. If they did, I would consider that a bug in itself, since it would cause too many bad downloads I also think any sensible sync should first delete old files, or at least move them out of the way, before downloading the new, since otherwise people might get old bad files Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

isn't that because beta2 and beta3 are _releases_ which are all under /distribution? and /factory is current development tree..

Well, for one thing, factory is divided on two different places in the download.opensuse.org site. It should be all on just one place, IMO. The other problem is that the download development page switches to the download stable version if you select expert view, when it should show the expert view of the develpment version, or an error. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Beta is not part of Factory, Factory is just the source of it. Just as you don't put apple juice in trees - if that makes sense. It isn't? Now I'm much more confused and surprised. For me, a beta is just a snapshot of factory at a certain date: ie, it is factory. Now you say it is not? I don't understand anything. Yeah - just juice is a snapshot of apples at a certain date. Still does not fit in trees. We seem to have different philosophies here ;)
And what about the second problem I mentioned? Report a bug against the web site? Seemed highly unrelated to this thread to me.
