[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Leap 42.2 - Beta 2 - call for manual testing again ;-)
Hello openSUSE supergeeks, techies and community members! openSUSE Leap 42.2 - Beta 2 was released yesterday! As Ludwig mentioned in his announcement the Beta version of Plasma 5.8 LTS [1] (which was just released last Thursday) has been integrated into Beta 2. Thanks to all testers, who have tested, reported bugs and have added their results to our Testmatrix so far. But again please test as much as you can and report all bugs you can find in bugzilla against the Leap Product [2]. Please have a look at the provided new Beta 2 Testmatrix [3] were you can check what is already covered by other testers. Add your name to the list, report bugs or other findings and share your test results. And feel free to extend the Matrix with Testcases/Testscenarios that of interest for you. Many thanks and happy testing! That is great, but can someone explain to me why we *do not* want to have 5.8 in Factory? Someone has been making SRs (to factory) while simultaneously asking them not to be accepted. Why is 5.8 good enough for 42.2 but not Factory? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

openSUSE Leap 42.2 will go with KDE Plasma 5.8 from very beginning – so we need to test this combination as soon as possible. However, I already tested KDE Plasma 5.8 beta and I can say, that it have at least several regressions [1, 2] and should not be recommended to go into Tumbleweed now (hope KDE maintainers will fix them). Leap 42.2 is now beta, Plasma 5.8 is now beta, so there is no problem. Leap will be released with the finished 5.8. Tumbleweed will get 5.8 when it's ready. Other posters have already mentioned why: because it needed to land with the Leap beta, so the beta version was submitted (and allowed us to find a few annoyances and to fix them). 5.8 will be submitted to TW when it's officially released (a couple of weeks from now).

Hi all
I can't get the https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AGKijKpKiJCB616-bHVoNQuhWHpQLHPWCb3m 1p6gXPc/edit#gid=827948035 link.
The spreadsheet doesn't load...
It works for me although I can state that it took about 20 seconds on my network which I would consider a fast one. Also other people are on the page right now. I suggest to try again later.

I had beta 2 running. I did a "zypper up". I got 900+ packages downloaded but then: ==================================================================================== Checking for file conflicts: ....................................................[error] Detected 1 file conflict: File /usr/share/kservicetypes5/kipiplugin.desktop from install of libkipi-data-16.08.1-1.1.x86_64 (openSUSE-42.2-0) conflicts with file from package libKF5Kipi30_0_0-15.12.3-1.5.x86_64 (@System) File conflicts happen when two packages attempt to install files with the same name but different contents. If you continue, conflicting files will be replaced losing the previous content. Continue? [yes/no] (no): ===================================================================================== Is that a new bug, or a side-effect of a beta 1 or 2 bug? Well, the "bug" is that this file was in the libKF5Kipi30 package previously, which has been upgraded to libKF5Kipi31 where it has been split out to a separate sub package libkipi-data. I suppose it never should have been in the libKF5Kipi package in the first place, according to the Shared library packaging policy... So yes, it is a bug in Beta1 and 42.1 IMHO. I think we should add a conflict (or Provides/Obsoletes) to the 42.2/Factory libkipi-data package, and/or (maybe better) provide an update to 42.1 that splits it out to libkipi-data too. (Won't help with updates from Beta1 though, but I suppose we can ignore that...) Wolfgang, I cancelled my 'zypper up' and tried a 'zypper dup'. No complaints from dup and I believe that will be the only supported upgrade mechanism. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Right, probably "zypper dup" does remove libKF5Kipi30, because it has been dropped from the distribution. We should still add an explicit conflict to libkipi-data though, I suppose... Hello openSUSE community, openSUSE Leap 42.2 - RC2 was released yesterday as announced by our openSUSE Leap release manager Ludwig Nussel [1]. This is the last RC before the GM which is planned for last week so your last chance :-) Thanks to all testers, who have tested, reported bugs and have added their results to our Testmatrix so far. But again please test as much as you can and report all bugs you can find in bugzilla against the Leap Product in the corresponding version [2]. Please have a look at the provided new RC2 Testmatrix [3] were you can check what is already covered by other testers. Add your name to the list, report bugs or other findings and share your test results. And feel free to extend the Matrix with Testcases/Testscenarios that are of interest for you. As there have not been many changes since the last milestone it makes sense if we now focus the testing effort on features regarding online update, e.g. the update notification widgets in the common desktop environments, hardware support, for example graphics acceleration, or upgrade from earlier versions, especially Leap 42.1. Just be sure to notice if you use external repositories that not all might provide a repo for Leap 42.2 already. Many thanks and happy testing!
