[opensuse-factory] Chromium is looking for a new maintainer
Hi Folks, Due to personal reasons, I will be dropping my packaging activities for openSUSE. In the 8 years that I was contributing to openSUSE, I witness quite some ups and downs. However it has always been a great pleasure in helping the enthusiastic community that surrounds openSUSE and I am sure that Leap and Tumbleweed are well being taken care off. In those 8 years I have mainly been active in the KDE area, but there are two other packages that would require a new maintainer. The first one is a simple one, but still important to the whole KDE search structure. This is the Xapian package with its bindings. The second one has become a monster of its one and that is the Chromium web browser. This one is quite hard to handle as that we have some particular patches, but it also faces a lot of issues when building due to memory and disk consumption. Also it has almost all required libraries in-source and removing those would cause build failures as that system versions might not have a particular patch. This week I will still be working on getting the chromium-dev variant in a good shape as that Google introduced a new build system. It looks like I managed to get it working, but lets see. Please let me know if you might be interested in taking the maintainership for xapian-core, the three chromium variants or maybe both :) Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hello Raymond, Firstly sorry to read that you are stepping down and thanks for all the good work you did. I am willing to help with chromium since I use it daily :) Please contact me off list if you have any scripts or any current workflows around it I could reuse. I just noticed this mail and would like to join others in thanking you for all the great work. I hope that you'll be around anyway even if you won't work on packaging or we'll miss you.

If nobody else stepped ahead already, I guess I could take care of xapian-core. -- Antonio Larrosa -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I guess you are the first one :) Could you please submit a request to be added as a maintainer of xapian-core and xapian-bindings? I am not sure if you are maintainer of the repo server:search. In that case, the sr is not needed :) Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
