[opensuse-factory] [status report] openSUSE distribution, week 38
Hi! You may have noticed I'm pretty late, which is already a status update: I'm heavily busy :) * We mastered RC1 late tuesday with just one ship blocker left * After internal testing we're up again to 7 blockers (+ 54 critical) * Online update works fine though, critical issues left are in some yast modules and the ACPI support of the kernel (some machines show weired regressions) * Live CDs are on good track, so we think we're able to release them together with the other ISOs of RC1 * The installer of the live cds will not be ready for the final, so we'll most likely pull them from the final live CDs and ship another set of live CDs when we're happy with it Greetings, Stephan -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It's great to hear about RC1, but if we have _that_ big number of important bugs, maybe we should make another RC, -- RC2 before Final ? -- -Alexey Eremenko "Technologov" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Internally we make as much RCs as needed - but putting them out on the mirrors in the short time is more hassle than help, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Internally we make as much RCs as needed - but putting them out on the mirrors in the short time is more hassle than help, The factory tree is synced out as usual and I'm thinking about doing a live CD for every RC, so people can test the new kernel at least. Most bugs left are in yast modules related to distribution updates and I don't think people will do that more often.
