[opensuse-factory] How to install from the iso?
I tried the CD but it threw error sh: /usr/sbin/grub2-mkconfig; No such file or directory I downloaded DVD and burned it on USB with DD command and now during installation it asks for source destination which only has Hard Disk/NET or DVD as option. When I give path to the USB = /media/openSUSE-DVD-x86_640258/ it says source destination not found. How to install Milestone 2 with USB? Is it caused by grub2 package missing in the media? Are you use 32-bit or 64-bit? 64-bit installation should be fine IMO as grub2-efi (needed by elilo) is in the packages list .. but I don' know about the status of 32-bit, looks much likely it would have trouble if grub2 package not listed in kiwi's package list ... Could you change to use grub1 temporarily? Regards, Michael

Per the log your root device is /dev/sda8 and grub2 would be proposed to install on extended partition This should be dup of bnc#750897: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750897 I think next milestone will fix it. Two suggestion if you want the installation to succeed 1. choose grub1 as your bootloader 2. choose install to mbr Btw this problem (cannot install to extended) happened on latest grub2 upstream version as well .. the patch would be submitted too Thanks and sorry for the inconvinece. Looked at the image again and it seems to be new issue. It was casued by missing utilities in grub2 package, I wonder grub2 package is missing in the media but don't know how exactly this would happen. Would you mind to fire a bugzilla for this? That is the same bug as was reported in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751835. The workaround is either to select GRUB when setting up the installation, or you can retry the boot loader installation after it fails and then switch to GRUB. The failure occurs for both 32- and 64-bit systems. Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks. As Michael suggested, I tried with Grub1 on MBR and it worked. Swapnil

Using the NET-Install ISO image and creating a bootable USB should work with Milestone2 I just finished the install for build 268 and it went very smooth. -- View this message in context: http://opensuse.14.n6.nabble.com/How-to-install-from-the-iso-tp4635808p46397... Did you read http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_USB_stick ? The same way you can put the DVD ISO file on a large enough USB stick. Choose hard disk as the source of your installation. -- fr.gr. I created the USB successfully (I always use the same method) it booted but when I try to install it asks for 'Choose the source medium'. I give hard disk and then it shows the HDD partitions and not the USB. When I choose the HDD partition where I want to install the image, it asks for source "Enter the source director' I tried to give the path of
