[opensuse-factory] question about javascript

Just curious but during a closer look at what was installed for java script I found that on my machine I have both java-1_6_0-openjdk and java-1_7_0-openjdk. Also pairs of libjavascriptcoregtk-1_0-0 and libjavascriptcoregtk-3_0-0 and the pairs libwebkitgtk-1_0-0 and libwebkitgtk-3_0-0. Are those pairings required or could I just remove the programs with the lower number? -- Linux User 183145 using KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 2 (i586) Kernel: 3.4.6-1.1-default KDE Development Platform: 4.8.4 (4.8.4) "release 2") 22:48pm up 1 day 0:22, 4 users, load average: 0.61, 0.31, 0.35 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Java/openjdk has nothing to do with javascript. If you're interested in javascript you might want to look into QML/QtQuick :-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Java and Javascript is unfortunate similarity in naming, but it is not the same, and java-*-openjdk has nothing to do with javascript; it is just Java stuff. Do you need them both? That depends on other Java programs that you have: * they may require specific java version, or * it is just that upstream developer did not (yet) updated version requirements.
Same as above.

You can attempt to remove them. When they are not needed zypper will just remove them without adding to the list more packages. In case that above works, but something starts failing then it is either packaging or upstream bug. Either specfile has no proper Require definition, or upstream requires higher version, but can't work with it. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
