[opensuse-factory] Thunderbird 24.1 is broken.
Yesterday, Thunderbird 24.0.1 was upgraded(?) to 24.1 on my system. Sadly, Mozilla still haven't fixed it to pick up the correct version of Lightning plugin (2.6.2) and it stays with version 2.6.1, with which it is incompatible. Suggest 13.1 final release be with 24.0.1 until Mozilla sort out their mess. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 13.1-RC2 (64-bit); KDE 4.11.2; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 3.11.6; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nouveau driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA); Wireless: BCM4306 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Strange subject to say TB 24.1 is broken while in fact there is just no compatible Lightning package available for the version? Also https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/lightning/?src=search This shows Lightning 2.6.2 which is compatible already. So is there really a problem? Lightning isn't being updated automatically by TB from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2 so, yes, there is a problem. It can be fixed by installing 2.6.2 by hand as long as you know that's what is needed. Since it is TB that is not installing the compatible version of Lightning when doing its add-ons check, then it is TB that is broken. OK, 'broken' is an exaggeration but TB24.1 isn't working as it should. I suspect there may be more queries - complaints? - from Lightning users on this once 13.1 is released. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 13.1-RC2 (64-bit); KDE 4.11.2; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 3.11.6; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nouveau driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA); Wireless: BCM4306 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This does not only affect 13.1. TB 24.1 is already in the pipe or even released for all older maintained openSUSEs. I even had a discussion with the Lightning developer about the situation but TB not updating to the new version is a different topic. So if you do the update check in your TB, does it then install the 2.6.2 version or still not? (there is agreement that Thunderbird >=24 is broken because it has a too strict binary compatibility check which was hidden until it was released and only found with the release of 24.0.1. This is going to be fixed at some point.) Please note that 24.1 is a security update for 24.0 and 24.0.1 so no, there won't be a revert to an older vulnerable version just because people have to reinstall something they installed manually before anyway. - a miracle : earlier today Lightening 2.6.2 refused to install By-Hand - however, trying again by hand . . . Success : Installed OK . . . all is now Well thank you .................. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
