Right now, it only indexes are RPMs that we provide by our package servers. TW is problematic as one can't even install a version of a package that is one month old. So unfortunately, one needs to first update a TW system in order to have it working.

Yes, it's not supported right now. Martin

If you have a crash dump, you are out of luck then. The same with coredumpctl, it won't be able to download the debuginfos too. So one still has to have the debuginfo packages installed :(. I am talking about not so often crashes/bugs. You upgrade, run TW for a week and "it" crashes finally again. You need the corresponding debuginfo, but debuginfo is gone from the server by that time already. People barely upgrade to every TW release.
TW is problematic as one can't even install a version of a package that is one month old.
One sometimes has month old installed packages though :). $ uptime 11:35:34 up 30 days 3:40, 19 users, load average: 0.78, 1.00, 1.08
So unfortunately, one needs to first update a TW system in order to have it working.
That won't work well. It works only for reproducible crashes (you upgrade and trigger the crash). For more usual cases, we would need at least a week old debuginfos.
If they dismiss with every TW release, it's quite pointless. If they are kept around for a month, it makes a lot of sense.
Yes, it's not supported right now.
So any plans on this then :)? thanks, -- js suse labs

How long/how many releases are the debuginfos kept on the server?
Hello.
We only index Tumbleweed packages for x86_64.
I understood that. But for how long/how many releases you/them keep the debuginfos in place?
Right now, it only indexes are RPMs that we provide by our package servers.
There are Tumbleweed RPMs for snapshots back to 20201106: https://download.opensuse.org/history/ Are those also used? If not, you'd only have to index the diff between those.
TW is problematic as one can't even install a version of a package that is one month old.
Do they have to be installable for the debuginfo server to provide them? Cheers, Fabian
So unfortunately, one needs to first update a TW system in order to have it working.
If they dismiss with every TW release, it's quite pointless. If they are kept around for a month, it makes a lot of sense.
Yes, it's not supported right now.
Martin
thanks,

Interesting.

These are not indexed as they do not contain *-debuginfo *-debugsource packages. But once having history also for these, we can easily set it up.

No. The server basically traverses all *.rpm files, extra them and indexes all debuginfo ELF files based on build-id. Who can help us with the debuginfo history folder? Thanks, Martin
Cheers, Fabian

gdb (9.2 -> 10.1)
Hello.
I just wanted to announce that the package now supports debuginfod.
For more information, please take a look at: https://debuginfod.opensuse.org/
According to this webpage, only x86_64 is supported for now. Could we enable support for other architectures such as aarch64? I would be happy to help if somebody could guide me. Cheers, Guillaume
For now the support is experimental and one needs to explicitly set the corresponding environment variable:

It would be possible. Right now we run the server instance on one of our mirroring servers in Provo. Unfortunately, the mirror only provides x86_64 binaries. We can set it up on another mirror server that provides aarch64 packages. Martin
I would be happy to help if somebody could guide me.

Why not using download.o.o directly?

Yes, that would be great! Guillaume

Right now we run debuginfod daemon on one of our mirrors. Reason is that the daemon traverses local filesystem for debuginfo (for *.rpm files). That's why it's handy to run it on one of the mirror servers. If we have a better candidate, we can definitely move it. I bet infra team can help us here. Martin

Hello. It's being quite some time we provided an experimental support for debuginfod server for openSUSE Tumbleweed. And there are some improvements I would like to announce: 1) debuginfod.opensuse.org indexes all openSUSE Tumblewed packages for *all* architectures 2) gdb packages automatically pulls in debuginfod-profile which is a package that sets the following environment variable: DEBUGINFOD_URLS=https://debuginfod.opensuse.org/ (via /etc/profile.d/debuginfod.sh) 3) we extended a periodic monitoring of the server and the packages it indexes 4) please check the support for other clients at the following website: https://sourceware.org/elfutils/Debuginfod.html So let's enjoy the debugging experience and don't forget to *update* your TW. Be aware we index only *the latest* versions of the Tumbleweed packages. Cheers, Martin
