Czech Packagers Team (Prague) meeting minutes 2008-08-14 ======================================================== Present: anosek, lmichnovic, mkudlvasr, mmarek, mvyskocil, nadvornik, prusnak, puzel, sbrabec Minutes: mvyskocil Topic: (1) OCR software (2) New version of Virtual Box (3) How to adopt a packages from Packman (4) Work reports 2008-08-08 (5) Work reports 2008-08-15 (1) OCR software Puzel started work on packaging tesseract and OCRopus. Tesseract is a low-level optical character recognition software without any layout analysis. OCRopus is a general OCR framework that uses tesseract as one of its plugins. It can do layout analysis, language modelling etc. Both projects lack GUI. Concerning tesseract, there are no major problems with packaging since the code seems to be quite stable. On the other hand, OCRopus - available as alpha release - is under heavy development. Puzel suggested to wait for beta release (should be out this month) for which the developers promise stabilisation of build system and improvements in documentation. (2) New version of Virtual Box mkudlvasr started to work on build of the new version of VirtualBox. Altougth the local build runs, the build in autobuild fails. The initial packaging of the new version was done by community member in a BuildService. (3) How to adopt a packages from Packman mvyskocil works on improve of the build of the package openproj, withouth usage of the included binary jars. Some of the build dependencies are a part of Packman project. These packages don't have any license/or patent problem. So we've discussed about the best approach of addopting of these packages - mvyskocil will send an information about adopting to the Packman's maintaner. Is it possible to get some information about this bug (I get "You are not authorized to access bug #413209")? I'm just curious because I'm maintaining this package in the BuildService and on packman. Hi Marcus, this bug considered license issues of bundled libical library. After investigation we realized that there was no problem.
