[opensuse-factory] IBus icon after update to TW 20171023

As already reported on the opensuse mailing list (https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2017-10/msg00486.html) TW 20171023 brought an ibus icon in the system tray. Is this on purpose? Bug or feature? Its far from obvious. Indeed, badly named for being helpful. "ibus" = keyboard????? I thought it was some upgrade/replacement for D-BUS initially

Well that the (bare) name of FLOSS projects (some are acronyms or contractions, mind you, and ibus is one of those!) seldomly has anything to do with its use is not really news to you, or is it? "python" has nothing to do with snakes, "squid" has nothing to do with fish, "gnome" has nothing to do with little people, "bash" has nothing to do with hitting stuff. But on the last one I am not so sure ;-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Its not that 'narrowminded' It is a general input method interface and can do other things than just keyboards.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

As already discussed in the thread about "Login Manager changed from KDM to SDDM", this is a side-effect of dropping libreoffice-kde4 and installing libreoffice-gnome on KDE/Plasma by default as well. (ibus supplements libreoffice-gnome) You can still uninstall it if you prefer (ibus, not libibus which is needed since a long time already but doesn't really matter here). You probably should lock/taboo it though or it might get pulled in again when installing updates.
