[opensuse-factory] booting factory boot.iso produces kernel panic
I was trying to install 10.3 on a Compaq server, but the installation kept getting hung up. I thought I might as well try out the factory install, so I retrieved the boot.iso image. However, when booting that, it consistently ends with a kernel panic. Including when I use 'apm=off acpi=off noapic i8042.nomux maxcpus=0 vga=normal'. I'll try to capture the kernel output over a serial console, but I was wondering whether to report it as a bug or just bring it up here? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - your spam is our business. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Have you tried 'hwprobe=-parallel,-misc.par' as mentioned on http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs_11.0_dev -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Nope, haven't tried those. I'll go and do that right now. /Per Jessen, Zürich --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Uh, I tried something else first - divine inspiration or something - I used "i8042.nomux i8042.noaux", which fixed the problem. (I've always used i8042.nomux on this system). /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - your spam is our business. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
