[opensuse-factory] Skype-Web and microphone
Chat and voice works on my TW PC with normal Skype (skype-4.3.0.37-suse121.i586). But since the compatibility with Mac and Windows Skype users is limited, I looked at Skype-Web (web.skype.com) and Skype for Linux alpha. I read somewhere, that Skype-Web works (best) with Google Chrome. The problem is, that my microphone does not work with Skype-Web I hear the voice from Skype test call (username echo123), but I can't hear my voice. My voice is not mute for some seconds, it does not exist (0 seconds long) in Skype test call. In Google Chrome I already allowed web.skype.com to access my Sennheiser USB microphone. Any idea's, how I can fix this? Setup: - openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160625) (x86_64) - Google Chrome 52.0.2743.82 - Pulseaudio 9.0 Regards, Björn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No idea about the fix, but Skype test call works for me with the same Chrome version on TW 20160720 . Robert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

@Robert: What does it mean for you, "works"? Does it just mean it is establishing a call or does it mean you hear the automatic voice, make some noise to the microphone for a few seconds, hear the same noise back and getting again the automatic voice with instructions? I tried Chromium, Chrome, Firefox, none of them worked with the Skype call testing service in TW 20160720 (64-bit) (notebook HP ZBook 15 G2). Firefox does not allow to establish a call at all, Chromium and Chrome do the call, but it is muted and ends after 10 seconds without hearing anything. The testing call works well with the native client (skype-4.3.0.37-suse121.i586) out of the box which means the call has an overall connection time about 50 seconds, I speak something to the microphone and hear it after that. So I can just confirm what Bjoern wrote. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Just forgot to add: Of course, I checked the Audio Volume Record level for Chromium it hasn't been muted and looked just fine. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I am to establish a call to the test user, speak my message, and hear it played back to me.

Firefox does not work for me either, did not try Chromium. I'm also using the Packman essentials repo, maybe the codecs from there influence the result? Have you checked the choice of microphone in Chrome settings? Make sure that skype is listening from the correct microphone. Kind regards, Howard 2016-07-22 12:41 GMT+02:00 Robert Munteanu <robert.munteanu>:

Setup: - openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160625) (x86_64) - Google Chrome 52.0.2743.82 - Pulseaudio 9.0 I like to add, that I find these messages in Google Chrome console (Control-Shift-J):
https://www.youtube.com/iframe_api Failed to load resource: net::ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR https://client-s.gateway.messenger.live.com/v1/users/ME/endpoints Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) https://api.skype.com/users/my-skype-username/options/OPT_SKYPE_CALL_POLICY Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) I don't know, if they are important. try Franz. http://meetfranz.com/changelog.html?os=linux&arc=x64&ver=3.1.0 this has the additional benefit of having also nearly all other messengers in one application. franz works good enough for daily use. it has one bug i know: when recieving a group-call in skype, it keeps ringing, even if i already joined the call. my workaround is to restart franz and join the call. -- Best Regards | Freundliche Grüße | Cordialement | Cordiali Saluti | *DI Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
