Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 20 on CPU 0.
Hi *, with the latest kernel 5.18.2-1-default I get the following messages in my journal: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 20 on CPU 0. Dazed and confused, but trying to continue What does this mean? Do I have to worry about them? This is a Dell Inc. XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 notebook with the latest Tumbleweed snapshot. Thx and bye. Michael.

I dont know. I get similar messages with regard to power management since kernel 5.14 or something after suspend . Mostly Laptop still works afterwards but it does not suspend properly.... Axel

I also get them op my laptop after hibernation, which works fine, except for those messages. I have searched the Internet, but it is still a mystery to me. Solving this seems complicated and as far as I understand it, the messages are harmless. I have added "nmi_watchdog=0" to grub so I don't have those messages. Cor

Thx for your answers. The problem is, that for my DELL XPS 13 resuming from hibernation isn't working in most cases. It works one out of 10 times. The failure doesn't want to be caught. Sometimes I get CPU lockups, sometimes I get error messages, sometimes I get nothing but a black screen. Yesterday I got a kernel crash somewhere in the drm modules. So I try to understand each and every error or warning in the logs to finally get the reason for the resuming failure. Bye. Michael.

In my case it was the other way round: hibernation worked (unless yo are running on Nvidia, the the nvidia 'falls off the bus' every now and then) in most cases, but just today it crashed: https://paste.opensuse.org/59433105 This is the log from today, including - wake up from suspend - suspend and hibernate due to low power (around line 2912) - finished hibernate (line 3079) - dazed & confused message (3265) - another hibernation attempt - hibernation exit (4469) - a crash (4586) followed by hard switch-off and reboot Cheers Axel
