[opensuse-factory] GNOME: Pidgin, sane defaults

Hello all, I've been talking to some people about the Pidgin defaults and we agreed that the upstream defaults are not really sane. We have an opportunity to get this patched with sane settings. Apart from https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=304635, does anyone have any other suggestions on what defaults we should have? The sane default would be to use the notification area. A lot of applications do this already. So if we can't do it with pidgin then we should spend some time to change this on other applications as well. So we get a consistent behavior. Existence of an active Bonjour account would be really interesting feature for small companies - intranet IM working out of the box. Many of them now internally (and illegally) use ICQ, because their admin doesn't know, how to configure jabberd up. But I think, that hostname should not be configurable (but auto-generated) and should not be a part of user ID (I don't exactly know, how it is implemented and it does not work for me just now - see bugzilla), so one could "IM joe, wherever he sits", but be able to see, that joe is logged as joe@mach1room1 and joe@nb2. SuSE people can look at FATE 302550. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
