[opensuse-factory] which systemd version is in use by factory?
Hello together, when one looks at this page: http://software.opensuse.org/package/systemd and opens the section for "openSUSE Factory" one gets the line: "official release 44 ..." for "openSUSE 12.3" the correct entry is shown: "official update 195 ..." dito for "openSUSE 12.2" "official update 44 ..." My question is where does the version 44 for factory come from? Another question: would it be possible to enable to enable the repository openSUSE_12.3 for systemd in Base:System, atm it's disabled and I'd like to test systemd 202 on OSS 12.3 without opening the can of worms that is Factory on a production system without good cause. (If it's not possible, please say so.) see: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries?package=systemd&project=Base%3AS... Just branch it and build for openSUSE 12.3. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

If you are interested you can fetch it from obs://home:arvidjaar:systemd/openSUSE_12.3. This has both systemd and udev. I updated all and immediately got interface named enp0s3 and of course no network. Thank you very much. The warning is much appreciated! - Yamaban.

I have the oposite problem, I want to use the new naming scheme but can't make it work, I always get ethN heh :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

look for /usr/lib/udev/write_net_rules and it's generated file /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules maybe you have a 'left-over' 70-persistent-net.rules from the prior version of udev otherwise a command like "grep -E 'eth|en[a-z]' $(locate /udev/)" could give further hints. - Yamaban.

ah, ok. it is write_net_rules .. not the one that fails.. write_dev_root_rule[302]: /usr/lib/udev/write_dev_root_rule: line 5: return: can only `return' from a function or sourced script.. gotta love our customizations... :-|
maybe you have a 'left-over' 70-persistent-net.rules from the prior version of udev
Yes, removing that one also does not help..
otherwise a command like "grep -E 'eth|en[a-z]' $(locate /udev/)" could give further hints.
I see now that our udev has yet another SUSE specific hack for this...sigh.. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

As Andrey wrote, you should branch and use at your own risk. I won't support update of systemd release on 12.3. It does work here ;) however I agree we shouldn't support backports. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ditto. Works fine, but no need to backport for everybody. FYI: version 202 gives much more details on failures and errors, which is helpfull for writing new service files and hunting down bugs, but does not add much for the 'normal' user. As developer / support for my customers I'm delighted that I do not need to switch to factory for just that. Thank you. - Yamaban.
