[opensuse-factory] configure gdm
Is there any way to configure the theme for gdm? There used to be a tool for it but with 11.1 I cannot find it anywhere... Erik. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I could never find the tool, so I just hand-edited the XML in /usr/share/gdm/themes if I needed something tweaked, and touched /etc/gdm/custom.conf where necessary.. (especially as I hate green being the default background :) That reminds me of another bug, when I install Xfce, GDM is installed too, but the default displaymanager is xdm which is ugly as f--k. Is it really that big of a chore to enable GDM by default? If that's not the idea then why bother installing GDM with the Xfce pattern at all? -- Matt Sealey <matt@genesi-usa.com> Genesi, Manager, Developer Relations -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I hope slim get to working state soon (now especialy PAM module is break) and became default displaymanager for xfce. I find gdm quite annoying for xfce (much dependencies and also I cannot set in new gdb as default xfce). We upgraded to the new, rewritten GDM. It doesn't support themes yet, but you can change the background picture and other settings by editing the gdm user's gconf database in /var/lib/gdm/.gconf. You can use gconftool-2 for this. -- Hans Petter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Does GDM support custom icons for users? This is probably not of the greatest importance but I would like to replace the default icon. Erik. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Of course it does. Just put an image as ~/.face (I think it will ignore it if it's too big). Upstream, we have gnome-about-me which enables you to do so. It seems we don't ship this.
