[opensuse-factory] Kernel Panic (4.17.6)

I just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 5566 to latest tumbleweed using "zypper dup" and now as soon as I get past grub i get an immediate kernel panic, I tried updating the machine bios to see if that helped but still same results. Anyone have any ideas what is going wrong here? sorry for the screenshot only way i could easily capture the error at the moment. http://nebadon2025.com/tumbleweed/dell_inspiron_5566_tumbleweed_crash_01.jpg -- Michael Emory Cerquoni -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Some good news! It appears that whatever this issue was got resolved with the new 4.17.7 Kernel that just went out, thanks to all who responded! On Mon, Jul 23, 2018 at 7:31 AM, Jiri Slaby <jslaby@suse.cz> wrote:

If you have a second machine on the same network, you can use the netconsole to get a full kernel log including the stacktrace. See: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Netconsole PS: For some reason my first mail was rejected by the mailing list, hope it passes through this time. You are encountering a couple of HW errors, as far as I can see. Is this reproducible? I.e. is it constantly failing with the new kernel and constantly OK with the older one? In that case, that would be a kernel bug. thanks, -- js suse labs -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

It is 100% consistent on the new kernel, fails every single time I try to boot. It is fine on the previous kernel boots up 100% of the time without any problems. -- Michael Emory Cerquoni -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
