Never automatically.
Why not for the average joe user? Windows been doing this a long time.
Short answer, this is not windows. Second, any update could make the system unbootable due to third party repos being configured.
Automatic updates or manual ones can both break the system due to third party repos. So whats your point? My points are First: apper is broken for TW (it cannot install packages, says the user aborted installation always) Second: Zypper needs general command line knowledge, and knowledge how to setup sudoers and knowledge about up / dup, and priorities, and recommends, and vendor change. This is clearly too much for a new user to learn at one time. Zypper is for proffesionals. Thus the normal user is stranded with a static tumbleweed that he cannot update sufficiently at the moment. We need a completely new update-automatism or a repaired apper or an easier zypper to attract a broader user base with TW. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No it's not. I'm running it successfully and am far from an expert. Yes. It's for experienced users that can use YAST and some command line commands however the knowledge required is openSUSE centric. Now we've had guidance on using zypper up and zypper dup with Tumbleweed it's even better. ( I'll will use zypper up as I have packman and Google repos. ) Steven -- ____________ Apply appropriate technology. Use what works without prejudice.
