LS, Shortly after Linux 6.0 was introduced in TW, I noticed that when updating with "zypper dup --allow-vendor-change --no-recommends" that the system did (re)boot properly. The message "Failed to start Rule-Based Manager for Device Events and Files..." is repeated six times before starting "Coldplug All udev Devices" and finally to hang at starting a job for /dev/sda8 (the root fs). After that, I need to run an update using the TW-net boot CD. Most of the updates are the same what was previously installed with the zypper dup... command. Some updates are always the same: kernel-default, grub and mesa drivers. So, the initial update was not correctly performed. Secondly, "yast2 sw_single" does not display the auto-updates anymore. Under the tab Repositories you still can find that there are new packages, but you have to select them manually. Regards, Frans.

third time is usually the charm. you should now be having good luck. fwiw: I have not experienced your problem(s), but I also use "--no-allow-vendor-change" I would suggest "zypper verify" zypper --help verify -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc
