[opensuse-factory] RC1
This time I didn't see the checkdisk option that I have seen before that proves that the DVD is not corrupt. Any thoughts? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Not that I normally use that, but it would have been nice to find out my DVD was bad before I hosed the install on my Thinkpad. Of course the first 2 failures trying to update from Beta3 should have been a clue, but oh well......I'm not re-downloading the DVD with the Live-CD. I'm glad I have the foresight to have a separate data partition for situations like this........ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It's at initial boot now - but see also bug #395157, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

I am still confused, sorry. I do see the media check from within YaST after the system has been installed. I don't see this option on the screen prior to installing. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what "initial boot" means or am not looking in the right area. The RC1 installation was really fast and smooth. The repositories got setup and previous error messages I had with Beta 3 are gone. It looks really nice so far. I am still confused if I should take a chance on my production machine with KDE 4 or stick with KDE 3 until 4.1 comes out sometime later. If you put the DVD in and boot, you get a "check medium" entry below "Boot from Hard drive" and "Installation". (the wording might not be 100% correct, it's what I have in memory :)

Hi Stepan, I have been seeing this choice as you describe above with previous versions of SUSE up until 11.0. The choice is NO LONGER there. However, I do see it after the installation is complete under Software YaST. I never see it on the boot DVD anylonger. From my vantage point we are still communicating the initial point I was trying to make. Please put 11.0 in your machine and boot and look for the "Media Check" entry. For me it is gone. You're right. RC1 had this broken. See bug 396358 - which I opened after verifying my mail :) Greetings, Stephan -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
