[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed / python-kdebase4
It appears that the latest build in Tumbleweed downgraded python-kdebase4 from 4.8.3-5.1 to 4.8.2-7.1 — of course since everything else is at 4.8.3 this breaks dependencies. Looking at the build log dosn't provide a clue as to why it has downgraded, so could someone else please have a look at what is going on with that package? The source package in the repo is at 4.8.3 like it should. My up-to-date Tumbleweed shows: Platform Version 4.8.3 (4.8.3) "release 5" and "zypper dup": Problem: nothing provides python-kde4 = 4.8.2 needed by python-kdebase4-4.8.2-7.1.x86_64 Solution 1: deinstallation of kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar-4.8.3-5.2.x86_64 Solution 2: keep obsolete python-kdebase4-4.8.3-5.1.x86_64 Solution 3: break python-kdebase4-4.8.2-7.1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies which wants to downgrade all of kde :^( Thas not rite -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

It has actually changed to 4.8.2 between my report and your post. Still, I can't figure out why this one package downgraded to 4.8.2 during the last build, when it clearly was at 4.8.3 before. The package python-kdebase4 seems to have been removed entirely from Tumbleweed, but it is still in KDE:48? I've for now removed it from my installation with no apparent ill effects; keeping it would try to switch it to openSUSE current and downgrade all kdepim packages to 4.7.2. Yes, it should not have been removed from TW, it just failed to build for a bit. Greg, did you reinstate it? No, I thought I was supposed to remove it. So, what exactly am I supposed to do here? Add it back? I noticed the KDE:48 repo has changed a bunch again, is it now stable enough to add to Tumbleweed? What happened to a bunch of packages that seem to have been removed, should I also remove them from Tumbleweed? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Please do. It was only being removed at zypper dup time due to the old version still being in the download repos and zypper making a solution. It builds again now.

The KDE:Release:48 users seem to be happy again, is my best answer at the moment.
What happened to a bunch of packages that seem to have been removed, should I also remove them from Tumbleweed?
Which ones? (Do you have a script to track the source projects of packages in TW, so I can identify the ones KR48 no longer has? The OBS status page for TW does not allow filtering by devel project, as the Factory one does. Ok, now added back.

The list of KDE packages I've linked into Tumbleweed can be found in the tumbleweed "scripts" package, that can be browsed here: https://github.com/gregkh/tumbleweed specifically this is the file: https://github.com/gregkh/tumbleweed/blob/master/kde-4.8 When I run an update on that file, I get a number of packages that are no longer in the KDE:48 repo, that used to be there. koffice2 is one such example, I can provide the list of others if you like. What happened to koffice2? Why would packages be dropped from the KDE:Release:48 repo? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
