[opensuse-factory] 11a2 KDE...?
Is the KDE on 11a2 supposed to work? Because for me it's useless. Totally kaputt. konqueror crashes on every second page, and the only window the KDE->system settings ever show is the KDE crash handler. Still haven't found kcontrol to make that KDE usable. Upgraded (zypper dup) to gwdg factory, no difference. I used gwdg because the download.opensuse.org/... URL only gave me a choice of do nothing, or uninstall kdebase & co, so I passed on that one. Are others having more luck or is it me only? Are KDE bug reports of interest at this point? Thanks, Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Well, it *is* alpha. :P

I haven't run across that. I've been testing pretty heavily and only found a few issues so far. Have you posted these issues to the bugtracker? https://bugzilla.novell.com/index.cgi I just found one where I lost my screen after setting some variation of transparency. Need to figure out how to get my screen back. :P

They are taking notice. You aren't running 11.0 / KDE4 on a production system, are you? I'd suggest a virtual machine, like virtual box or vmware. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

From "init 3", "rm -rf /home/<user>/.kde" or rename it, "init 5" and set up kde again. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... Be warned that KDE stores more data in ~/.kde than you might think. For example, KMail stores it mails there... I'd strongly recommend to rename ~/.kde instead of deleting it. Yeah, I'm looking at .kde/share/desktoprc and other files. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Okay, I renamed both .kde and .kde4. I'm back to defaults. I have this running on a Virtual Box image, so there's no production work or personal items. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

wrong. do not delete it. please figure out which config setting causes the problem. BTW, the KDE4 packages use ~/.kde4, so you don't gain anything regarding KDE4 if you rename ~/.kde. a simpler way is btw export KDEHOME=$HOME/newemptydir -- RPMLINT information under http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
