hmmm...i just saw the same error in the openSUSE forums! (except the forums error didn't have the apparent corrumption of (for example) "ÐваÑийнÑй оÑÑанов" here: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=487016 ...or was that also you?? the forums answer was: "suggest you check that all yast packages are coming from the same repo, otherwise that can lead to such problems." is that helpful? dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Probably Russian locale issue. BTW, why it isn't displayed correctly?

Not me.
I'm running Factory and use Factory repos only. Now I see. New package libyui5 was installed by 'zypper up'. But I need also libyui-qt5 and libyui-qt-pkg5. And libyui-ncurses5 instead of libyui-ncurses4. So, runtime dependencies are broken. -- WBR Kyrill

If you want a good guess: someone running putty with ISO-8859-1 byte stream interpretation on the Windows side with Linux outputting in UTF-8. And here is the trick to determine that: в Ð°Ñ Ð¸ й Ð½Ñ Ð¹ о ÑÑ Ð° н ов are characters (mostly pairs) with code points D0,B2 D0,B0,D1 D0,B8 D0,B9 D0,BD,D1 D0,B9 D0,BE D1,D1 D0,B0 D0,BD D0,BE D0,B2 Take them as octets, strip the stray Ñ(D1)s and reinterpret the bytestream as UTF-8 again and get characters from the Cyrillic section: ваийнйоанов The original text for ru_RU SIGABRT reception is Аварийный останов, which means that some chars were not rendered on the client node (can live with that), and which corroborates the suspicion about an ISO-8859-1 reader. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
