[opensuse-factory] RFC: Topics for next dist meeting
We're having tomorrow again our distribution meeting where we discuss major future changes to the distribution. I have so far on the agenda: * libata per default: We plan to use libata even for IDE devices. This opens some challenges for updates. * mDNSresponder->avahi We discussed some time ago to drop mDNSresponder and use only avahi. I'd like to know whether we're ready to this now. Is there anything you like to comment on this so that I can present it tomorrow? Are there further topics I should bring up in future meetings? Andreas, I have reported as a bug the lack of support for LTSP and it seems to have been assigned, My question to the factory group is , "where are we?" Richard Bos seems to have lead the charge to investigate the status of the "prepared" materials and has found them lacking and suggest that SuSE wait it out. I would like to submit that , if Ubuntu and RH can do this by writing their own pieces that the OpenSUSE team can too. p.s. An I'm willing to bet that you guys can do it better! thanks for all you do. We're still looking at it - but this is something more for a general 10.3 discussion... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Well, there is no reason to write something again, if something existing can be improved instead. Atm, we try to find out, if we can drop one of the implementations, if the other one has all the features and is reliable enough. And it is better to do some bugfixes, instead of reinvent it again (and introduce new bugs again). bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

What exactly do you use for connecting it (protocall / application) ? bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It uses a usb connection, and the application is digikam. About the protocol, I do'nt know; tell me how can obtain it.
