Unfortunately this isn't a new issue for 15.3 and is something we need to continue working on to make better. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
Hello team, we've agregated the patchinfo from SLE update repos. So there is a piece that manipulates the XML. Adrian S. wrote that piece of delivery pipeline. I think we could extend it to at least substitute suse.com for opensuse.org. That could ease the pain. I think Adrian is on vacation so that will have to wait. I'll meanwhile open a tracker for it. CC'ing openSUSE maintenance team so they're aware. Lubos On Fri, 2021-06-04 at 16:47 +0930, Simon Lees wrote:

you mean just replacing the URL? That does not give you more permissions on the bug. It's the same database with the same permission set int he background. Which URL you use to access a bug is irrelevant. The URL gives you a differnet style template and (by default) a different product filter when filing new bugs (can be changed in the user preferences though). Cheers, Dominique

Yeah the real solution here is to not mark bugs such as this one which don't contain any customer info as "Only open to employees and contractors" -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
Ack, any suggestion is actually welcome. Feel free to submit it to survey.opensuse.org On Fri, 2021-06-04 at 19:12 +0930, Simon Lees wrote:

Ack we've already clarified it. I really think that if we'd get enough unhappy feedback in Leap 15.3 (defacto Closing The Leap Gap) retrospective regarding non accessible bugs referenced in updateinfo SUSE would listen. I can only recommend to share constructive critisizing feedback at survey.opensuse.org Thank you

I'm really impressed by your optimism. After many years of trying to free openSUSE bugs (bugs listed in Leap changelogs) I'm not that optimistic. Or to phrase it differently: I have long given up on the subject, and nowaday I just correct people that mention "developed in the open" and "openSUSE Leap" in the same sentence ;-) But I provided feedback on survey.o.o, may it help or not. -- Stefan Seyfried "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled." -- Richard Feynman

It's been like that for each and every leap bug I wanted to look at since YEARS and nothing changed, despite of promises that the situation would improve. The only exception I noticed are security bugs which are always properly opened to the public. You can try writing to opensuse-bugshare@opensuse.org for each bug you care about, but that will *not* get the bug opened, instead you will be given a short summary what the bug is about. -- Stefan Seyfried "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled." -- Richard Feynman
