[opensuse-factory] LVM based setup
Hi everybody, Today I finally took the time to 'play' with the real setup of oSS 11.1 ;) (so far I was only updating my setup using the repos). I used the beta5.2 net install and decided to let the system 'automatically' go through with it's selections for LVM based partitioning. Everything went fine, it installed everything, but on boot up it seems /dev/system/root is not available and it does not start. Anything that has already been spotted or something I have to worry about? Or something as a consequence of the net installer disks? Sorry - it "Works for me"! I just now installed from openSUSE-11.1-Beta5.2-NET-i586-Build0155-Media.iso as boot medium then ftp from my server where openSUSE-11.1-Beta5-DVD-i586.iso was loop-mounted. Defaults throughout except for: * LVM (one of 2 HDs fitted previously set up & used with LVM) * UK language / keyboard * user password as root (why is that *still* default? This isn't M$!) * system mail to primary user (would seem generally a good idea) * KDE 4.1 (well, I still hate KDE4 but I don't expect to be able avoid it except by switching to gnome...) LVM partitions for home, swap (not formatted) and root (formatted) detected and sensibly assigned automagically - very nice. -- Cheers Richard (MQ) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
