[opensuse-factory] Announcing schedule slip of openSUSE Leap 15.2
Hello openSUSE! I have not seen any objections on opensuse-project@ nor opensuse- factory@ regarding the timing part of the recent Jump proposal. With this in mind, I'd like to announce a schedule slip of openSUSE Leap 15.2. openSUSE Leap was originally supposed to enter the RC phase this Thursday. However, this step will be moved to May 28th. This date was chosen on purpose. It's Thursday after the SLE Public RC. SLE Public RC is also supposed to be the deadline for incorporating changes related to Closing the Leap Gap (CtLG) in the current release of SLE. I'd like to use this extended period to finish any pending Factory refreshes and accept any changes to unify SLE and openSUSE Leap code- streams. The new FCS date is scheduled for 2nd July and was chosen to fit the rule of releasing openSUSE Leap in between SLE Gold Master and release dates. So the versions of base-system packages released on GA are in sync. More information about the schedule can be found in https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Roadmap Thank you

Thanks for the update. However, https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Roadmap still contains "openSUSE Leap 15.2 is planned to be released May 2020, based on SLE 15 SP2". Hello Frank, Thank you for spotting it. I missed the openning sentence. Fixed! Cheers On Tue, 2020-04-14 at 17:01 +0200, Frank Krüger wrote:

Could you please clarify what this means for the EOL status of Leap 15.1: is it still expected to be maintained up to the end of Nov 2020 or will its lifetime be extended to a couple of months beyond that, in keeping with the "upgrade to the latest minor release within 6 months of its availability" goal? Currently the lifetime of Leap 15.1 is aligned with SLES 15 SP1, which is set to "6 months after SP2 release". I think it will be in this area of end of November 2020 still. It's simply 6 months after the 15.2 is Released. This is the rule that's not changing. This is also mentioned in https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Leap/FAQ/ClosingTheLeapGap
