[opensuse-factory] SUSE 10.1 sources DVD

Will there be a DVD again with the sources corresponding to the packages in the boxed set (like there was for 10.0)? We have two source DVDs lying around -- but as of now they didn't get pushed out to the mirrors. And I'd actually prefer to just offer .jigdo files for those, as the .src.rpms are in the ftp anyway. 196K SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-SOURCE-DVD1.iso.iso.jigdo 21M SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-SOURCE-DVD1.iso.template 4.0K SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-SOURCE-DVD2.iso.iso.jigdo 304K SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-SOURCE-DVD2.iso.template 22M total Regards Christoph --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory-help@opensuse.org

From a mirroring point of view, some jiggledy-scripty which downloads the files and reconstructs the DVDs would make very good sense. Looks like jigdo does just that, are the source dvd jigdo files online yet? How is disk integrity handled? ISO md5 isn't going to do it as long as mkisofs always puts the mastering time into the iso. jigdo is capable of creating binary-identical ISOs. Please refer to /usr/share/doc/packages/jigdo/TechDetails.txt (part of the jigdo package) for the details. Those jigdo files aren't online (yet). Good scheme.

Any chances for an ETA? Or are there political reasons why you don't just plonk it into the iso directory (with md5 of the full iso image)? You're aware that all the src-rpms are available? http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/suse/sr... http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source... I'v just pushed those files out to ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/cthiel/jigdo-test/ They should hit the mirrors as they sync with the master server. Testing those would be much appreciated. It looks as if mirrors have stopped mirroring the peoples' directory? Or at least the 2 or 3 I checked.
Testing those would be much appreciated.
Wow I'm impressed! I edited the .jigdo to make it use a mirror which is closer and 3x as fast, and it wget'ed all the files and made the iso, which has indeed 05395e25e75a80127b8b517b5289c352 SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-SOURCE-DVD1.iso So thanks very much for those jigdos, I think you should put them with the SL-10.1/non-oss-dvd-iso/ or whereever appropriate. There's a small error in cthiel/jigdo-test/README: - run "jigdo-lite jigdo-lite <.jigdo file>" should be - run "jigdo-lite <.jigdo file>" or possibly better - run "jigdo-lite XYZ.jigdo" Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory-help@opensuse.org

Good question -- did they lack the people directory completly? They might just have been a bit behind with the mirroring.

We'll take care of that next week.

If they had been late I wouldn't have commented. They have no people directory any more at all. Not complaining - just noting that it might be a bit more difficult now to find a people/ mirror. No, not in the box. Maybe they will burn and send you one upon personal request.
