[opensuse-factory] Little glitch in latest tumbleweed with Nvidia/Nouveau and Plasma

I have here on my system an elderly Graphics card of Nvidia with Nouveau. Since the update to the latest snapshot there is one bug showing up: the desktop background picture does neither scale nor react on the settings of plasma. So "scaled", "scaled and centered" etc is not true any more. The image is visible like if it would be enourmously upsized. Resolution of the card is 1900x1080. Also the "switch user plasmoid" seems to be "up-sized". If you know this already, good, if you want me to file a bug just tell me. It is however a minor thing, currently does not really cause me problems, as browser and dvb-t kaffeine etc seem all to work as expected. --- Mail & Cloud Made in Germany mit 3 GB Speicher! https://email.freenet.de/mail/Uebersicht?epid=e9900000450 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Exactly what does "elderly" mean?
If your "elderly" gfxcard isn't seriously antique, you might wish to give the built-in modeset driver driver a try. It works fine with my 9 year old 8600GT and 8400GS. To use, simply uninstall both proprietary nvidia driver and xf86-video-nouveau. Optionally, explicitly configure it as driver in xorg.conf*. If yours is supported, and some other driver isn't expressly specified in xorg.conf*, Xorg should automatically use the modeset driver.
