The content of this file may let us know what went wrong. You may also consider switching to the NVIDIA driver packaged in this repository instead of using the run file: http://http.download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/ It does not contain the build for 4.19.1 yet, but I expect it won't take long to appear there. tks, but have been using the ..run files for *many* years now. will only change if I cannot get a cure for present status. I have installed with the 4.19.1 kernel using "--no-drm" and except for occasional black screens when changing from one image to another when developeing raw photos, I see little difference. maybe a little speed. tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, Have you a possibility to try 410.73 version? What GPU do you have? -- Kind regards, Mykola Krachkovsky -- Найкращі побажання, Микола Крачковський

Here are the relevant errors: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.87/kernel/nvidia-drm/nvidia-drm-encoder.c:219:11: error: implicit declaration of function "drm_mode_connector_attach_encoder"; did you mean "drm_connector_attach_encoder"? [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] drm_mode_connector_update_edid_property( ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ drm_connector_update_edid_property These two functions were renamed to drop the "mode_". The packaged driver solves it by patching the nvidia sources before compiling them. You can check it in the spec file on lines 193-196: https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/X11:Drivers:Video/nvidia-gfxG04... nvidia-gfxG04.spec So you can: 1) Wait for NVIDIA to release new version that is compatible with 4.19.1. 2) Unpack the run file, patch it yourself. 3) Use the packaged driver. 4) Keep using --no-drm. As long as you only use X11 with single graphic card, you probably don't need it. The nvidia's X driver talks to the nvidia's kernel driver thru its own interface. Snapshot 20181112 and the 4.19.1 kernel built for me "the hard way" with the 410.66 driver https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/410.66/ and no additional switches. Another user's experiences -- http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=2421 -- discouraged me from experimenting with 410.73. I haven't tried 415.13. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Skip the 390.87 version and install 410.73 which works fine (https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/533434/linux/current-graphics-drive...).
