[opensuse-factory] Notes on RC1
Hi! Some notes about my installation of today. * There was a annoying pause wetween "loading basic drivers" and "loading installation system" * It took ages to discover the partitions (may be related) * Harddisk shown as "sdb" (also related ?) * I've a encrypted /home - it was not detected as encrypted and its _really_ bad to have to check the "encrypted" checkbox beneath the "format filesystem" selection even if you use "just mount" ! * In the expert partitions view you click on "Quit" and not on "Apply" as it should be. * In general it took me more time to create my setup with the new partitioner. But that could also be my personal habits. * It took ages for the "cracklib-dict-full extension" to load. If that's retrieved via network, don't load it, if no network is available. * I really like the new console messages for (2, 5, 6, 9) * Installation process itself is running stable and fast atm. Do you have a USB stick attached?
No, could only be the internal card-reader ?!
Or asked differently: find out what sda is in lshal. Will try after install.

Will report on the disk issue. Best regards, Jan-Simon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, could only be the internal card-reader ?! Its the card-reader. Also the pause is related to this. Everything works. Some fiddling with the updater-applet now.

Is home-partition shown as encrypted at least in the list of all available partitions or is it just a matter of the checkbox & edit partition dialog? In either case, please file a bug, but check duplicates beforehand, there were quite some issues around encrypted partitions (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=435244 and all duplicates)
* In the expert partitions view you click on "Quit" and not on "Apply" as it should be.
Where? Looking at the code, there isn't single button labelled as 'Quit' in expert partitioner, but maybe I'm just blind ... deep-frozenB. -- \\\\\ Katarina Machalkova \\\\\\\__o YaST developer __\\\\\\\'/_ & hedgehog painter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It wasn't shown at the beginning. So in my case (existing encrypted partition) I couldn't mount it as /home. Selecting the encryption-checkbox under "format" and "mount as" solved it finally. But thats a bit confusing solution.

Ok, it was "Beenden" (german) , so my re-translation was wrong ;) . I mean the dialog where you can edit the individual partition. best regards, Jan-Simon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

So you mean the "mini workflows" for e.g. add or edit a partition. The button on the last page is "Finish" as requested by the YaST Style Guide. ciao Arvin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ok, on this Page "Finish" is a bit misleading imho. Its no wizard over 3 pages, its just one page and I was confused if "Finish" would leave the complete Partioner. Just my 0.02 €.

That is indeed confusing. The same with the "Abort" button. Does it only abort the expert-partitioner, the mini-workflow or the whole installation? You just don't know. I would have made those mini-workflows popups/dialogs which do not cover the whole screen. This would have two advantages: 1.) The meaning of "Abort" and "Finish" would be clearer (at least I think so) and 2. on big screen you could move the dialog to the side and see e.g. the partition list at the same time. vy 73, Arvin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
