[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Cheat Sheet - Technical Input Needed
Hi All, I know this is a strange request for the Mailinglist to discuss the technical development of our distribution, but hopefully the logic for reaching out to the technical experts who live here will be obvious The Design Team @SUSE are putting together an openSUSE Flyer with a Cheat Sheet of useful/important commands for anyone using openSUSE via the CLI They kindly provided a 'prototype' version of the sheet at FOSDEM, and it was a huge success, but it's obvious the list of commands was a little out of date (it was based on an old sheet) The first 'official' version of this sheet is likely to be circulation for at least a few years, so I want to make sure it's accurate and relevant for at least 13.1 but ideally also aligned with how we're likely to go in 13.2 Please go to the sheet on my ownCloud instance and edit the document https://sysrich.co.uk/owncloud/public.php?service=documents&t=d619d6b00b118e... Feel free to remove commands that are obsolete, or add new ones that are the 'right' way of doing things. The Goal is to have 7-8 'sections' with around 10 lines of info per section They need to get these things printed fast - so you probably only have a day or two at most to contribute - Sorry for the short notice, that's my fault for sitting on this Thanks in advance Richard Brown openSUSE Board -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Richard, The sheet that Jan has shown you is the one I have done, the raw should be in git under artwork. It was publish by Linux Pro in the UK. You are welcome to use it. I do have a letter size one as well. Pup On Wed, Feb 12, 2014 at 8:43 AM, Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de> wrote:

I tried to edit that document. The editor is plain horrible. It can't do Ctrl-X nor Ctrl-arrow movement, and my Compose button is ignored as well. I can't even do Ctrl-Z for undo. Agh! If it's just going to be text (before being typeset into SVG again by some team), _puh-lease_ create something like a wiki page on en.opensuse.org instead. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Oops! Sorry Jan and Cristian, I forgot to update this thread I no longer require anyones help. Thanks to the dozens of people who gave their eyeballs tor review the list and make changes, I think we ended up with an awesome list for the new cheat sheet, and it's currently with a designer who's having a fun time cramming it all on a single page :) And yes, this little exercise also brought up some issues with owncloud, which I guess I get to report, but hey, it's been fun On 15 February 2014 04:20, Cristian Rodríguez <crrodriguez@opensuse.org> wrote:

No, there were severe mistakes. (That had been solved on the old svg) I feel left out.

excellent thanks for the page. "List all services" is ambiguous. It may mean "list all services currently known to systemd" as well as "list all service definitions that could be used". It will become even more so in the future when systemd will support creation of transient, run-time, services. The command shown (systemctl list-units) will show the former. While to see all unit files you use list-unit-services. The point is, to see all services that can be started you need to use list-unit-files, not list-units. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
