just wanted to pass on my opinion about the move to take the wallpapers out of the /opt/kde3/share tree and put them into /usr/share. While overall not a bad idea to consolidate the wallpapers, it breaks the user's background config without warning. What's wrong with a simple symbolic link to fix that? Similarly, I had the SuSE93 kdm theme configured, which has disappeared. What's wrong with a package to wrap the backwards compatible bootsplash, kdm themes and defunct wallpapers, and make it such that the user need not break his thumb to get them configured as they were. I understand the idea of 'branding' etc., but personally it annoys me quite a bit. By the way, this is not meant to put down the newest theme, keep up the good work. Thanks! Martin

With a symbolic link you have to maintain the symbolic link as well, cause the settings will stay on /opt/kde3/share. I think it is a better idea to replace those setting-strings. But maybe that's a bit difficult? Azerion

This started already with 10.0.

There should be an extra package with those old backgrounds. Coolo, how is that one called?

Exactly that was planned for wallpapers - for bootsplash and kdm themes it is more involved.

No, it was not planned. What was planned was to ship a package with old wallpapers, so that those really disliking the new wallpaper can pick an old one. But as kde can't rely on that old wallpapers to be around, I will continue replacing old SUSE wallpapers with the new default. After all you updated products, not just software versions. That this wallpaper upgrade path didn't work in beta3 is my fault, but it was no intention. Greetings, Stephan
