[opensuse-factory] What happened to the Extra Repository for Leap 15.0
Hello, I was checking on Friday for the Extra repository for Leap 15.0 and I couldn't find it anywhere? This repo had a lot of packages that I still use in 42.3. Discontinued? -- Cheers! Definitely not, it is the devel project for most 3rd party KDE applications in the distribution after all. Leap 15.0 is not released yet though. But KDE:Extra has been enabled for Leap 15.0 anyway meanwhile... But, what exactly do you need from there? Most things are in Leap 15.0 anyway, even in the same version (except maybe krusader 2.7.0 which was released too late to make it into Leap 15.0). I am using AcetoneISO, Tomahawk (very good player) kservicemenueditor and keepassXC. -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Tomahawk and keepassXC are in Leap 15.0's main OSS repo, the latter is not even part of KDE:Extra in the first place. The other two are indeed only available in KDE:Extra. AcetoneISO is uninstallable on Leap 15.0 currently though as I noticed a few days ago because it requires genisoimage that has been dropped (although you can ignore the missing dependency). And is kservicemenu still working at all? It's an old KDE4 application (last updated 7! years ago), I'd assume it would use the KDE4 locations which are not looked for by KDE Frameworks5 (and the file managers as a consequence) anymore. This is "fixed" meanwhile, it only recommends genisoimage now instead of requiring it. Creating ISO images will not work without genisoimage, but that's not really crucial functionality anyway and you can use e.g. k3b for that. (although, genisoimage is still available in multimedia:apps e.g.) I'll probably patch it to use mkisofs instead when I find the time, but I have to check whether the command line options need to be adjusted... Btw, it's also hardcoded to use wodim (which has finally been dropped as well) for CD/DVD burning/erasing, but then it uses HAL to check for a CD/DVD burner so that didn't work anymore since years anyway, even with wodim installed it just gives an error that no drive is found. Is there another package with a gui that does everything that AcetoneISO does? -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

What exactly? AcetoneISO tries to do quite a few things, and it mostly uses command line tools for the actual work. Everything should work the same in Leap 15.0 as in Leap 42.3, as long as you have the corresponding tools installed. I.e. the main difference now is the missing genisoimage, which is still available from other repos on OBS as I wrote. Personally, I only ever used it for mounting CD images, and that should still be fine on a standard Leap 15.0 installation, although I didn't try yet.
