[opensuse-factory] kernel: /dev/vmmon[5826]: host clock rate change request
This message is there again when running vmware guest. Boot option clock=pit used to prevent this message in all 10.x versions (and I think earlier, not sure anymore). With versions of 11 it's not helping anymore? -- Vahis --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Also the time in guest is out of sync (a great lot) with host. -- Vahis --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Do you have the guest additions installed? There is a part that syncs the time with the host. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I've got open-vm-tools. Where is guest additions? Or rather is that its full name? I have also tried to install vmware-kmp. Resizing does not work other than manually "fit guest now" Then I lose the panel. It gets back by choosing default theme. After that you can come back to "Aya" which actually is default. What are these two different packages about? Should they both be installed or just one? Which one? BTW I'm confused with things named default which they are not anymore. I'm running the Kernel-default. Which actually is not default other than the name. Kernel pae seems to be default. Should that be rather used? -- Vahis --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes I meant vmware-tools. As I don't use vmware anymore I cannot help you further. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Resizing not to work is actually an issue of KDE4. Even if you use the nVidia set resolution application for example, the desktop is not resized. It's simply skipping the messages.

the KMP is the driver modules, and open-vm-tools is the user tools, like vmware-user (the one taking care of resizing for example) and host mounter. The KMP depends on the open-vm-tools, and the vm-tools are rather useless without the kmps too (the kmp should be installed automagically by yast when you're in a VM guest) Dominique --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

OK, got it, thnx. How about the clock rate change request? Boot option clock=pit did it before but not anymore. Is there another way or is this a bug? -- Vahis --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
