[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed: multi screen setup broken since upgrade of xf86-video-intel
Hi! The upgrade from xf86-video-intel-2.20.19-2.1.1 to xf86-video-intel-2.99.905-92.2 broke my multi screen setup. X crashes 9 out of 10 times when I enable the second screen. No matter how (xrandr or the fancy new KDE tool). Sadly X overwrites always its old log files, so have only a fragment of the crash: (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x0 -- Thanks, //richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That's not in Tumbleweed, I don't know where that update came from, but it's not a Tumbleweed issue, sorry. What repo does this package come from (you can see it at the bottom of 'rpm -i xf86-video-intel')? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Stupid me. :( The faulty update came from the Xorg repository. Sorry! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Either way: please ensure this is reported as a bug in bnc! this intel driver is the one shipped in 13.1 as far as I can see. Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Will do. Tomorrow I'll have time to break my X setup again an collect more debug details. I had already a sane backtrace but X overwrote the log file.... --- Thanks, //richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
On 2013-11-13 10:15 (GMT+0100) Richard Weinberger composed: Have you been using Tumbleweed all along, or did you just switch to it from 12.3 (xf86-video-intel-2.20.19-2.1.1)(or did Tumbleweed just make the switch from 12.3 to 13.1?)? When the xf86-video-intel driver was upgraded, was KDE upgraded from 4.10.5 to 4.11.2 too? If so, then the real problem may be the "fancy new tool", or maybe the old tool (krandr) didn't get removed and is conflicting with the new tool (kscreen). Exactly how is/was your multi screen configured, via xorg.conf*, or within KDE? If within KDE, what happens if you try the new tool with a virgin login/user? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
