[opensuse-factory] Missing preload-kmp-desktop - Preload Kernel Module Package
![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/22815e8cbb63ec7e4adafe8b00045c53.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
Dear Listmates, I am running openSUSE 11.3 x86_64. But I would like to upgrade the kernel fo 2.6.37x. However, the preload-kmp-desktop package is missing. I'm not sure if the update will be successful without this missing package. Please check: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_11.3/ Is there a reason that it is missing? And, can some one add the missing package to this repo? -- Cheers! You could also just deinstall preload-kmp-desktop during upgrade. (It is used for faster bootup speeds.) Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I understand. Talking with users on the forum, I know a lot of users that prefer to include the preload module installed. If not now, can we please have an update available for preload-kmp-desktop package included with the newer kernels in 2011? Can we have this starting in the next year? Or, do I have to apply for this in openFate? Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

This is FACTORY. It is perfectly normal that sometimes some things are broken and not available. Especially stuff as fragile and non-essential as preload-kmp. I really appreciate that new kernels are not delayed *IN FACTORY* until preload-kmp is built successfully. It will get fixed sometimes. If it's missing from the 11.4 betas, you can start complaining. But not now. Thanks -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?" I've linked the openSUSE:Factory versions of systemtap and elfutils into the Kernel:HEAD project. That should allow preload-kmp to build. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.16 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk0PueUACgkQLPWxlyuTD7Lz6gCgieJyrC3wzRFkNNOk6iAW/uXb P5QAn2FBYHKg/isRyQmmpqAd/ud130aG =Kp6g -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Sorry about jumping the gun. The kernel is number 1, followed by everything else. Btw. Is cgroups enabled starting with 2.6.36x or 2.6.37x? Thanks Jeff for the follow up. -- Cheers!
