[opensuse-factory] Default runlevel 3?
Is a default runlevel of 3 intended for a desktop selection of KDE3? Beta1, network install via ssh. Runlevel 3 is default because you've installed over ssh, I believe. I do almost exclusively ssh installs, and it's always runlevel 3. /Per Jessen, Zürich --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ah. Well the reason I installed over ssh was so I can keep working on something else while keeping an eye on another box installing itself. And never mind that I selected "Full KDE 3 system"...? Maybe the X configuration is a problem when the interface is over ssh? I don't know. /Per Jessen, Zürich --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Hmm, I'd guess installing via VNC will get you runlevel 5 as default. But feel free to file an enhancement request via bugzilla. Enhancement request for what :)? Installing over ~ SSH -> default runlevel: 3 ~ VNC -> default runlevel: 5 What else should be added? Like KDE selected: -> default runlevel: 5 even when chosen together with SSH? But I guess 'VNC -> default runlevel: 5' is indeed good enough. I would have expected the default runlevel to be chosen by *what* was installed, not by *how*. Would someone who only wanted an ssh-accessible system really install all of KDE? But it's a minor point here, someone who can install over ssh (superb, btw!) can easily change the default runlevel. The reason of my posting was to find out the intentional behaviour: 3 = ok, 5 = bug. Actually, that's what I usually do. I like to run konsole over ssh, so I tend to install at least the base KDE. /Per Jessen, Zürich --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
My question is how are you installing via VNC or SSH? Or is this for an upgrade to an existing system? On Sat, Apr 26, 2008 at 12:43 PM, Philipp Thomas <philipp.thomas2@gmx.net> wrote:

Hmm, I'd guess installing via VNC will get you runlevel 5 as default. But feel free to file an enhancement request via bugzilla.

First of all, please refrain from top posting and instead quote the necessary part and*then* add your question or remark(s). On Sat, 26 Apr 2008 17:28:15 -0400, Andreas van dem Helge wrote:

Search for VNC on http://en.opensuse.org. Two of URL's you get are http://en.opensuse.org/Network_Install http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Remote_Installation_of_SUSE_LINUX Both a bit older but still a usable starting point.
