openSUSE Leap 15.3 Beta code-drop deadline is next Wednesday
Hello openSUSE! This is a friendly reminder that the code drop deadline for openSUSE Leap 15.3 Beta is next Wednesday 17th of February 15:00 CET. Code drop deadline is in sync with SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP3 Public Beta as both milestones are expected to have an identical core, therefore the deadlines must be the same. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Roadmap (was corrected to reflect the change). ** Buffer for SUSE:SLE submissions** I've checked and there, are currently no new community submit requests against packages from SUSE:SLE* projects. However, I'd like to ask contributors to submit submissions against SUSE:SLE* packages with some buffer as suse-sle-reviewers have to approve them first before they're visible to SLE friends. This needs to be done before the actual deadline. Also, don't forget to reference issues for SLE submissions or we'll have to ask for resubmit. ** Note on new packages ** If you're a bit late and you still want to submit a new package to Leap then please submit it directly to openSUSE:Backports:SLE-15-SP3 as our SR redirection that is in place for openSUSE:Leap:15.3 would not be able to guess the destination project by non-existing package origin (this should be either SLE or Backports, or Leap for KPIs and branding packages). Why Backports? Starting with openSUSE Leap 15.3 the openSUSE Backports is where we build community part of openSUSE Leap 15.3. ** What about docs?** I've updated https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_for_Leap to match the changes in openSUSE Leap 15.3 introduced by the Jump prototype, including suse-sle-reviewers, mirroring, and blacklist information. I would appreciate any help to shape up the page or make the information more clear or accessible. Thank you! -- Best regards Lubos Kocman Release Manager openSUSE Leap SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. KPI - Key performance indicators? Or something else? Please, do not assume people know all the field-specific acronyms.

Hello Jan you're right what I really meant is kmods (kernel modules) that openSUSE seems to be referring as KMP (Kernel Module Packages), which is something I'm not used to I was always used to the simply refer to these as kmods. I somehow messed up the acronym and got myself trapped in the acronym trap. Sorry for any confusion https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_for_Leap was corrected as well. -- Best regards Lubos Kocman Release Manager openSUSE Leap SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. Just checked, the ftp tree still has syslog-ng 3.26, but https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.3/syslog-ng has 3.30. Does it mean, that I don't have to worry, the latest syslog-ng is in before the deadline, just not yet on the ftp? Bye, CzP

It looks like it is ok. But the latest version has not been released to ftp, yet. Cheers, Guillaume

Hello Peter, yup you should be all set. The Leap got slower turnover rate by the new model, so we're not able to produce builds as soon as we'd like to. Thank you for your understanding On Tue, 2021-02-16 at 13:33 +0100, Peter Czanik wrote:

Lubos, Do you know why Leap 15.3 currently does not contain any packages for VirtualBox? The absence is this code will be a big disappointment to many users. Larry

Seems to be there: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.3/virtualbox The current published repo doesn't have it yet. Cheers, Fabian
