[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the Week 2015/33
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, Since my last weekly report, we have released 'only' three snapshots. Some days there were just no stagings ready to be accepted... and if there is nothing to accept, there won't be a new snapshot. The notable updates we had in tumbleweed during this week were: * Mesa 10.6.4, which brings GL specific fixes * Various yast modules (unfortunately, not yet the module causing the crashes) * Kernel 4.1.5 (with 4.1.6 already checked in; will be the next snapshot to be released, likely over the weekend) Outlook for the next week, and status of last weeks 'promises': * systemd 224: this was moved to the backlog again, so that we could at least get some other things through staging (e.g. glibc 2.22). The test that ran so far failed on encrypted disks. At least, all build fails caused by system should be solved by now, and those are all in TW already, so the next staging with system is presumably to be much smaller / self contained. * As mentioned above: kernel 4.1.6 will be shipped to you * libQt 5.5 is pending a yast fix (Yast needs to be adjusted to build properly) * KDE Application 15.07.90 has some build fallouts that need to be analysed.. and openQA failures (See https://build.opensuse.org/project/staging_projects/openSUSE:Factory/D ) Most notably, it seems the devel prj is already built against Qt 5.5; so the libqt 5.5 mentioned before must enter Tumbleweed first (to not invalidate the devel projects tests done). * a doxygen update to 1.8.10 is planned. We have seen some silly build fails in packages using expr 1.8.4 \< $VERSION; this works fine until 1.8.9, but expr uses mathematical rules (as stupid as it is, 1.8.4 is no valid 'mathematical expression as such). So it compares actually 1.8.4 with 1.8.1, and fails. Ring packages are fixed. You might be hit by similar things in other packages. * Perl 5.22 is not moving at all. Please lend your hands to things in need of attention here. See https://build.opensuse.org/project/staging_projects/openSUSE:Factory/B Have a lot of fun, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Any chance that this might fix the bugs for nVidia machines? I tried to update my system via YaST but the task-bar got stuck early on and then the whole thing locked solid so I gave up and hit the reset button. SNAFU. If there is a hope that there is a cure amongst this lot, I might try another clean install from the latest snapshot but otherwise I think I'll leave it. If the new logon panel had a way to logon to root, I might well have succeeded in an update - nVidia/Plasma5 graphics problems are usually worse in old user sessions for some reason. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 13.2 (64-bit); KDE 4.14.9; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 4.1.6; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nouveau driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
