Can't is too strong. Of course you can, but you also need to take care of fixing your setup when it breaks. https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_the_hard_way Robert -- http://robert.muntea.nu/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

<snip> I have no hope of fixing nouveau ! Have to rely on Nvidia installer. I have managed to install the Nvidia driver after patching some files. Lets see if next kernel release breaks installer. I understand there are issues with 4.11 installer. Follow the blog at http://rglinuxtech.com/. The guy there runs the Nvidia driver on the latest -rc kernels and has usually a pointer to a workaround or patch when a new kernel is released und shows up in Tumbleweed -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Not sure where you got your information but I have been using the Nvidia drivers with tumbleweed for a long time (years). Is it a little more work? Yes, but not that much more. -- Ken Schneider -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I agree. It can be challenging at times. In any case, I have both Leap 42.2 and Tumbleweed installed. This allows me to switch distros when there are issues with Tumblewood. Regards. Sudhir

cannot recall last time I had memorable problems with Tw, nor the last time I was unable to use Tw as primary workstation on desktop or laptop and I do roll my own nvidia drivers. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
