[opensuse-factory] openSUSE:Factory - Build fail notification
Dear Package maintainers and hackers. Below package(s) in openSUSE:Factory have been failing to build for at least 4 weeks. We tried to send out notifications to the configured bugowner/maintainers of the package(s), but so far no fix has been submitted. This probably means that the maintainer/bugowner did not yet find the time to look into the matter and he/she would certainly appreciate help to get this sorted. - freeorion - mongodb - perl-Gtk2 - rust-packaging - soapy-osmo Unless somebody is stepping up and submitting fixes, the listed package(s) are going to be removed from openSUSE:Factory. I have submitted a request to fix the build problem for mongodb to server:database (https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/740793). It no longer builds in Factory because we now have boost-1.71, but this version of mongodb uses the 1.6 api (which is incompatible). I have switched to not using the system version of boost in Factory for mongodb, but in the long run it is probably better to upgrade mongodb to version 4.2 (instead of 3.6 we have now). Problem is, that this breaks backwards compatibility in the database. How to proceed? - migrate mongodb to 4.2 and be done with it - migrate mongodb to 4.2 and create a new package mongodb36 for people who don't want to/can't make the move - keep mongodb at 3.6 and create a new package mongodb42 for people who like the latest and greatest - rename mongodb to mongodb36 and create a new mongodb42 and let them both provide 'mongodb' Suggestions?

You could add back the older boost version to openSUSE:Factory, under the name "boost-1_66_0" (or whichever version is helpful to your cause). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This is broken because python-semantic_version upgrade from 2.6 to 2.8 broke some of the test cases. I've not had a chance to dig into this yet, but I'm going to take a look. Small status update: Alberto Planas has a pull request upstream to fix the issue[1], and it's in active review. Once merged, a new release of rust2rpm will be cut and I'll submit it to Factory. Recently I have submitted a request (which was accepted) to make mongodb build again and a request is now pending to release to Factory. I did notice a change in the license and it didn't take long before I stumbled upon the following: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1122267 What is the status on this? Alternative repositories are maintained by MongoDB with the latest version for SUSE 12 and 15, so even if it was decided to drop the mongodb package from OBS, people would still be able to run this if they wish to do so. https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-suse/ I can confirm that the packages from https://repo.mongodb.org/zypper/suse/15/mongodb-org/4.2/x86_64/ are installable and run at least in Tumbleweed. Does it make any sense to continue maintaining this in OBS (I even started working on building MongoDB-4.2.1) or am I just wasting my time and effort here and is it scheduled to be dropped anyway?

My question is, does this prevent us from moving MongoDB into non-free repository? OSI's opinion is pretty conclusive, and many defenders of the SSPL license argue it's an `open core` and not an `open source` license anyway, so we could treat the license as `shared source`, not `open` or `free source`.
