[opensuse-factory] Virtualbox not working / not installable under Tumleweed
Hi Experts, I just updated today my Tumbleweed installation and now facing the problem that my system does not allow me to start any Virtualbox machine because the vboxdrv is not installed. Looking at the messages I noticed that virtualbox was at version 5.18.0 while it could be updated to version 5.22.1. But this update is blocked due to a required downgrade of libopenssl! Which of course is not possible, due to other dependencies. The vbox drv is not available to the actual kernel(4.11.1) in Tumbleweed, so the machines can not be started. Can we expect an update of the virtual box packages soon? Works just fine here. For the record $ rpm -q virtualbox-host-kmp-default virtualbox-host-kmp-default-5.1.22_k4.11.1_1-1.8.x86_64 Robert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Just reinstalled virtualbox with downgrading libopenssl. Dont know how the version 1.0.2k-3.1 made it on my system. Probably via the 32bit version required by some package. But the 64 bit version had no dependencies open. Now it works :) Many thanks for the hints. Am Dienstag, 23. Mai 2017, 12:53:28 CEST schrieb Robert Munteanu:

The source package was renamed from openssl to openssl-1_0_0 which causes a reset of the build coutner.. if you were to use 'zypper dup [--no-allow-vendor-change]' you would not have had such an issue and zypper would gladly have downgraded openssl as part of the transaction. Cheers, Dominique

Jörn Hi.
Rather then RPM packages, I downloaded the .run file instead. On Linux downloads page, the last one is all distributions. The link is .run file. Download this, change permissions to executable and run as root. I am using this on TW and Leap at the moment. In my experience, .run install is better than RPMs from either Opensuse or Oracle.
