[opensuse-factory] Banshee bnc#464645
Hi all, First my apologies for using this list to gather some aditional information, but I'm trying to sort/clear all the bug reports regarding Banshee on Bugzilla so I can keep track of new issues in the future and try to improve our Banshee packages through better coordination with upstream. Regarding bnc#464645 [1], anyone knows if this has happened ? Why not (if it didn't happened) ? I also would like to inform that from openSUSE 12.1 onwards Banshee should be state of the art with the distribution providing all the dependencies (with the required versioning). Me and Steven have placed some effort in the Mono part for this to happen. As many might be aware Ubuntu has intentions of dropping Banshee and through the blogsphere some people are already being shelled, one of them is the maintainer of Banshee in Ubuntu, we won't go through the same issue as Banshee is good in openSUSE... planning to keep it this way. It's good to know it's being kept going in Opensuse, because it's a great media player. Just a friendly request though: please make sure the version that goes into 12.1 is decent and maintained with bugfix and security updates as much as possible. Adding a development project repo (which is what the Banshee OBS is) is not the way to go for non-technical users or those of us who want stable systems. 12.1 is out in one week and everything that's not a critical install or update bug is fixed in stone, including Banshee 2.2.0 which was the newest version available when 12.1 went into version freeze. A friendly reminder for those who have just tuned in: as parties interested in openSUSE Factory and subscribers to a list about it, you should have an idea of the content at http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Factory , including the release schedules. I'm aware of that, I was referring more to after-release, i.e. bug fixes in the Updates repo for that 2.2 version. Tim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Tim, Glad to know it appreciated.

The release version on 12.1 is 2.2.0, but, as Vincent suggested, we requested a maintenance update (once it goes into maintenance within a week) to update it with 2.2.1 which solves a few crash issues, improves the gnome-backend, closes a bug report on bugzilla and adds DVD playback feature. In total, 29 nice bug fixes. * bnc#727999 I assume we're going in the good path here and hopefully we'll be able to match your expectations. Thanks for your feedback and helping us improving Banshee and openSUSE. NM
