Hi
Since the last snapshot, kmail crashes on exit via File/Quit. Anyone else have this issue? I reported it via the bug handler. Works okay as long as i don't quit :)
regards
Ian

It seems that it crashes only after reading new mails.

That was the situation for my first crash but the following 2 crashes were just loading kmail, waiting a bit and then exiting without doing anything.

actually, it crashed on exit after making my previous reply so it wasn't a one off.

Actually, it may have always crashed before, but no one of you may ever have noticed, because before that Chromium's crash handler used to override KCrash's [1] so all crashes just ended up in /dev/null.
In short, this is a legitimate bug that went undetected.

Now I think about it, there were a couple of times recently prior to the latest snapshot when kmail just vanished without any warning or error reporting

Can't confirm either, tested both Kontact and Kmail alone.
Cheers Axel
Don't know how many accounts do you have. I think this may be problem. I have 3 gmail IMAP accounts.

I have problem with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399167 and akonadi is often unusable because of that. akonadictl restart helps for some time.

Do you mean _shortly_ after reading new mails? For a month or so, I'm observing strange behaviour of kmail with new e-mails. If I read a new mail too soon, it loses the "new" status but in a moment it gets it back. And when I delete it after reading, it even reappears in the folder (as "new"). So far it seems that this happens when I read a mail before kmail finishes syncing the folder with IMAP server but I'm not completely sure.
But I don't quit kmail unless I'm leaving KDE or it gets completely out of sync (which doesn't happen as often recently as it used to). So my problem my be just another symptom of the same issue as yours.

I meant "after reading new mails and exiting from KMail". But now I know I was wrong: It may crash on exit even if I don't read any mail.

I usually see this when different devices access the same mail account - laptop, desktop, cell phone, tablet....yes, partly all four are active.

Moin,
to be honest, I would have expected a frank response from Dominique, Richard or others, indicating that an e-mail like this (including the resulting thread) belongs to opensuse-support@...
In case the affected people already _believe_ to or even *know* how this can be reproduced, please install the related *debug* packages, re-run the related command and open a bugzilla for it, potentially informing interested people on opensuse-support@ by CC:ing them.
TBH, Kmail crashing isn't really interesting for future development, so please stop sending such messages - unless bug analysis shows future development is needed to fix the issue.
Thx, cheers.
